The Cape Florida Lighthouse in Key Biscayne was built in 1825. The lighthouse was damaged by a hurricane in 1835 and burned by an attack by Seminole warriors in 1836. It was reconstructed and completed in 1847. The lighthouse overlooks Bill Baggs State Park and is the oldest standing structure in Miami-Dade County.
